Sharing Our Volunteers’ Stories

Our volunteers are at the heart of Anam Cara Fasgadh.

Many of the people who volunteer with us, including all our Directors, do so because they have experienced loss themselves, or because someone close to them has been affected by bereavement. Others simply feel drawn to support families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Every reason for volunteering is valid, and every story matters.

We know that choosing to give your time, energy and compassion is deeply personal. Sharing your volunteer story can help others understand the impact of Anam Cara Fasgadh, encourage new volunteers to come forward, and show bereaved families that they are supported by people who truly care.

If you have experienced the bereavement of a baby, child or young person, there is no expectation to share details of your loss, or any personal experiences you are not comfortable discussing. You can write as much or as little as you wish, and you are welcome to focus on your role, what volunteering means to you, or what motivates you to support our work.

Volunteer stories will be shared on our website and may be shared on social media to raise awareness of bereavement support, to celebrate the incredible people behind our work, and to help potential volunteers, supporters and funders understand the difference that lived experience and compassion can make.

Your story will always be treated with care, respect and dignity. If at any time you wish your story to be updated or removed, you can contact us and we will honour your wishes.

Thank you for being part of our community and for the kindness you bring to others.

Data storage & retention: We will store your information securely and only for as long as it is needed to fulfil the purposes you have agreed to, or as required by law. You can withdraw your story at any time.
