Join the Team of Anam Cara Fasgadh

Anam Cara Fasgadh is seeking enthusiastic volunteer Community Workers to work alongside schools, groups, bereaved families, and community organisations. In this role, you will help raise funds, build connections, and extend the reach of our charity within communities across the UK.

Anam Cara Fasgadh is a Scottish charity based in Argyll, founded in 2018 to bring compassion, respite, and hope to families bereaved through the loss of a baby, child, or young person.

Through Gabriel’s Oasis, our peaceful caravan at Tralee Bay Coastal Parks on Scotland’s west coast, alongside our memorial events, nature-based nurture groups, and Trees of Tranquillity, we have supported hundreds of families from across the UK. Our vision is to expand this support through a network of safe, nurturing spaces nationwide where grieving families can rest, reflect, and heal.

We are now looking for compassionate, committed individuals to join us as Volunteer Community Workers, helping us grow awareness, strengthen community ties, and support families in meaningful ways.

As a Volunteer Community Worker, you will:

  • Build relationships with local schools, community groups, and organisations

  • Support and promote fundraising activities and awareness campaigns

  • Engage with bereaved families in a sensitive, compassionate manner

  • Help organise and assist at events, workshops, and community activities

  • Act as an ambassador for Anam Cara Fasgadh within your local area

  • Contribute ideas to help expand the charity’s reach and impact

Volunteering as a Community Worker is a powerful way to:

  • Make a real difference in how grief is understood and supported

  • Use your time, skills, and compassion to support bereaved families

  • Gain experience in community engagement, fundraising, and outreach

  • Develop communication, facilitation, and advocacy skills

  • Connect with a supportive network of like-minded volunteers

  • Receive training and ongoing personal development opportunities

  • Be part of a community rooted in honesty, empathy, and care

Your voice matters ~ and by sharing it, you help break down stigma and foster hope.

Commitment:

Flexible and adaptable depending on your availability. This may include occasional meetings (online or in person), community outreach, and supporting events throughout the year.

This is a voluntary role; however, pre-agreed travel expenses can be reimbursed.

We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in:

  • Community engagement or outreach

  • Fundraising and event support

  • Working with families, young people, or vulnerable groups

  • Building partnerships with local organisations

However, experience is not essential ~ empathy, reliability, and a belief in our mission are what matter most.

We warmly welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, from anywhere in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the charity’s mission by engaging with local communities

  • Promote awareness of Anam Cara Fasgadh’s services and support networks

  • Assist in planning and delivering events and initiatives

  • Help identify fundraising opportunities and local partnerships

  • Represent the charity in a positive and professional manner

  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when working with families

  • Uphold the values and ethos of the organisation

Essential Attributes:

  • Compassion, empathy, and a respectful approach to bereavement

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Reliability and a willingness to contribute time and energy

  • Confidence to engage with individuals and groups

  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience in community or voluntary work

  • Skills in fundraising, networking, or event coordination

  • Understanding of the challenges faced by bereaved families

Core Requirements:

  • A genuine commitment to the charity’s purpose and values

  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with others
