Anam Cara Fasgadh Nurture Groups
Our Nurture Groups are designed to provide gentle, compassionate support for families bereaved through the death of a baby, child, or young person. Open to parents, grandparents, and siblings, these groups recognise that grief affects the whole family and that each person’s experience of loss is unique, valid, and deserving of care.
Our first Nurture Group, Leaves of Love, opened in Inverness in July 2025, set within a peaceful natural environment that allows families to slow down, breathe, and feel held by both nature and community. From the very beginning, the group has offered a safe space where families can gather without expectation or pressure, say their child’s name, share memories, or simply sit in quiet understanding alongside others who truly “get it.”
At the heart of our approach is the concept of nurture. Nurture is about creating environments where people feel emotionally safe, accepted, and supported. For bereaved families, nurture can be transformative. It helps ease isolation, builds meaningful connections, and gently supports the nervous system during a time when grief can feel overwhelming. Through shared experiences, creative activities, and moments of reflection in nature, families are able to process their grief at their own pace, finding comfort in connection rather than silence.
Nurture groups also play an important role in strengthening relationships within families. Parents, grandparents, and siblings are given space to express their grief in ways that feel right for them, fostering understanding, empathy, and shared remembrance. Over time, these connections can help families feel less alone on their grief journey and more supported as they learn to carry their loss together.
Looking ahead to 2026, we aim to expand our reach across Argyll and the Highlands, ensuring that more bereaved families can access nurturing, nature-based support closer to home. Through this growth, we hope to continue honouring the lives of children who are deeply loved and forever remembered, while walking gently alongside the families who carry them in their hearts.
