Carolyn Harris

Carolyn is Deputy Leader for Welsh Labour and is MP for Swansea East.

When Carolyn’s son Martin died in 1989 she had to take out a loan and rely on donations from the community to cover his funeral costs. Passionate about ensuring other parents did not suffer the same hardship, Carolyn spoke about her grief in an adjournment debate on 28 November 2016 and went on to work with the Fair Funerals Campaign to press the Government to create a Children's Funeral Fund. The fund was announced at Welsh Labour conference on 25 March 2017, by Westminster Parliament on 31 March 2018 and by the Scottish Government on 30 May 2018.

In January 2019 Carolyn said she was honoured to become Patron for Anam Cara Fasgadh.


Bella Mackie

Bella Mackie is a journalist and author who has written for VOGUE, The Daily Mail, VICE, The Guardian, Stylist and GQ. Anam Cara Fasgadh Co-Founder Michale McGuire met Bella when she was researching her Sunday Times bestseller ‘Jog On: How Running Saved My Life’, when he shared how running had helped him with his grief. She is married to Radio 1 DJ Greg James and in Feb 2019 Anam Cara Fasgadh were delighted to welcome her to the team of Patrons.

Will Quince

Will Quince is Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Welfare Delivery and MP for Colchester. He is married with two daughters and in 2014 his son Robert was stillborn. He is passionate about campaigning for better care for bereaved families, working hard with the Government to secure commitments to reduce stillbirth and neo-natal death and has helped establish and co-chair the Baby Loss All Party Parliamentary Group, and was instrumental in securing the funding for the National Bereavement Care Pathway.

Anam Cara Fasgadh were delighted to welcome Will on board as Patron in 2018.


Màiri Rodgers

Màiri is a presenter and BBC broadcaster ~ she and her husband have three children. Sadly their daughter Annie was stillborn in 2016. Màiri , with award winning producer Helena Gallacher, produced Gaol is Call / Labour of Love which was shown on BBC Alba in 2018. During the filming she spent time with some of the Co-Founders of Anam Cara Fasgadh and interviewed Youth Champion Charis Simpson. The whole team at Anam Cara Fasgadh were delighted when Màiri came on board as Patron in 2018.

Gavin Wright

Gavin Wright is a talented actor, known for Lip Service , Dear Green Place and Shetland. Gavin spoke with Co-Founder Michael McGuire whilst researching for the powerful and moving play ‘Shattered’, which was a partnership between In Motion Theatre Company and the Scottish Cot Death Trust .

Anam Cara Fasgadh are very proud that Gavin was our first Patron, coming on board in 2018.
